Entry Requirements
Any one of these:
- SPM(V)/O-Level: Pass with at least a Grade C (Credit) in 3 subjects
- STPM/A-Level: Pass with a minimum GPA of 2.0 (Grade C) in 1 subject
- UEC: Pass with at least a Grade B in 3 subjects
- SKM/KKM (Level 3): Pass SPM with at least a Credit in 1 subject and complete "program pengukuhan" (if required)
- KKM (Level 3): Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.0
- STAM: Pass (pangkat maqbul)
- Other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian government
- Additionally, candidates must pass the Music Audition.
- Music Audition Requirements
Performance Audition:

Duration: 15 minutes

Memorization is encouraged for scholarship applications.
- Classical Music: 3 pieces of contrasting styles (e.g., Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Modern)
- Classical Voice: 3 pieces of contrasting styles in at least two different languages (e.g., German, Italian, French, English, Chinese)
- Contemporary Music: 3 pieces of contrasting styles (e.g., jazz, pop, rock, Latin, popular styles)

String, woodwind, and voice majors must bring their own piano accompanist or request one from the Institute (a fee applies).

Contemporary music candidates may use minus-one recordings. Please bring your own audio playback device (laptop, tablet, etc.). An audio connection (1/8 – 1/8 inch) will be provided.

Composition majors must submit a portfolio of compositions and pass an audition on a major instrument.
Aural Diagnostic Test:

Candidates must repeat a melody and a rhythmic phrase from memory.
Theory Diagnostic Test:

Topics include intervals, scales, and key signatures.

- UEC English Language: Grade A2
- TOEFL iBT: 30-31

Candidates who do not meet the English requirements must take the SE004 Basic English subject before advancing to the SE005 English Foundation subject during the foundation year.
