About Gloucestershire College

Gloucestershire College also known as Gloucestershire College of Arts and Technology, is a college of further education in the county of Gloucestershire, United Kingdom. It was originally formed in 1980 from the merger of four county colleges being Gloucestershire College of Education, Gloucestershire College of Art and Design, Gloucester City College of Technology, and North Gloucestershire College of Technology.

The college offers a wide range of education and training programmes, including A Levels and GCSEs, vocational qualifications, work-based learning, basic skills courses, higher education, short courses for business, part-time day and evening courses and English for overseas students. Courses offered are mostly focus on these areas such as Early years, computing with games programming, computing with ICT, computing with software development, health care practice, and therapeutic counselling.

The College has been awarded an overall grade of 'good', which is a significant improvement in performance since the previous Ofsted Inspection in year 2008. The college was graded as 'outstanding' for the College's partnership work and for the College's accommodation and industry standard resources.

Accommodation

Our purpose-built student residence is a 20 minute walk from Cheltenham campus and five minutes from the train station. If you choose to stay here you’ll have a fully-furnished single room with en-suite shower and toilet facilities, a shared kitchen and lounge. There is free internet access throughout.

The halls have CCTV and a warden is on-hand for extra security.

Our halls are the perfect place to live independently and make friends. They are close to supermarkets, cafes, takeaways, and the town centre.

Our student halls are small but perfectly formed so you’ll need to be quick to get a room! They’re available to students whose courses last at least a year and the contract runs from September to June.

Rooms are usually let for at least one year and students must sign an agreement to live here. For the academic year the price of a room is £125 per week during term time, with a £250 deposit.

Campus

The Libraries are areas for learning and study using learning resources, computers and individual and group study areas. It also has 35 drop-in computers at Cheltenham and 60 at Gloucester for students.

Gloucestershire College offers excellent childcare facilities at all three main campuses for the use and benefit of the staff and students with childcare needs. Express Fitness at Gloucestershire College (Cheltenham Campus) is an on-site fitness centre, which is open to the students and the public and includes gym equipment, a dance studio and basketball, netball and five-a-side football courts.

The college has experienced staff who provide training and help run the restaurant, which is open to the public at lunchtimes and some evenings. The salons are open to the public and offer a wide range of treatments, from a simple cut and finish, to an aromatherapy body massage.

The college also provides accommodation and all student bedrooms are single rooms with a private shower, sink and toilet. Fully equipped rooms with new furniture including a single bed, desk, chair, wardrobe space, drawer unit and shelving.

Gloucestershire College has its main campuses at large purpose-built facilities in Cheltenham and Gloucester, and also several smaller sites around the county including the Construction School in Kingsditch and Do I.T. Centres in Cheltenham, Gloucester and at the Tewkesbury Launchpad Centre.
