About Hugh Baird College

Hugh Baird College is a further education College situated in Bootle, Merseyside, England. It is one of the largest providers of education and training in the area, delivering over 300 courses to more than 5,000 students. The college offers courses from Entry Level to Level 3, Apprenticeships and University level courses, Foundation Degrees and Degrees.

Working closely with the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership and employers, the college continuously reviewing and developing our curriculum offer to ensure that students have the best opportunity to progress, whether it be into employment or further study. Hugh Baird College also wants to ensure that students are able to train to the highest standards with the very best opportunities to progress.

The college have launched the L20 Hotel School where the qualifications delivered will fulfil the needs of the Liverpool City Region tourism sector and help provide well trained and job ready students to the city’s growing visitor economy.

Besides that, the college are also responding to the exciting Super Port developments right on our doorstep by creating Port Academy Liverpool, which offers port operations courses that allow the learners to forge careers in this exciting, global and well paid sector.

Accommodation

The Hugh Baird College (University Centre) does not have any accommodation on the campus, however many of the undergraduates apply for accommodation in the Liverpool City Centre where many of the city students live. There is also student accommodation need to the College that is scheduled to be open for the 2016/17 academic year. 

Campus

The personal support Hugh Baird College offers to the students is outstanding and the learners like the safe and secure campus, and the friendly multicultural atmosphere. It’s a grown up environment where people treat each other equally and with respect.

The college is continually looking to develop facilities and have opened a new state-of-the-art gym and fitness centre in collaboration with Lifestyle Fitness. The centre is accessible by students and staff as well as being open to members of our local community.

This complements the newly designed cafes and restaurants and the new L20 Building  which houses the University centre, Business Development Centre, performance centre, cafe and community library.

Hugh Baird College is in a central location and is easy to get to from all parts of Merseyside by bus, train and car.

The Merseyrail Bootle Oriel Road station is only a two minute walk from the College campus. This station is on the Northern Line and offers easy access to the College from Liverpool, Crosby, Formby, Southport and other areas. 

By car

The closest motorway junctions are the M58 1a/ M57 Junction 7 – 3.7 miles (6km). Then follow the A59 towards Liverpool for approximately ten minutes, turning right onto the A5058 at the first roundabout, which leads onto Balliol Road.
